ENVELOPE, DRUG DISPENSING
(Polyethylene)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a polyethylene drug dispensing envelope.
Salient characteristics:
The drug dispensing envelope shall be a self-sealing, single-wall, polyethylene envelope. The envelope shall have a width of 3.0 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch and a length of 5.0 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch, with a wall thickness of 0.004 inch minimum.
The envelope shall be the open-end type with the opening at one end only. The envelope shall be provided with an interlocking seal closure which protects the contents from moisture. The envelope shall be capable of being easily opened from the seal closure end.
The envelope shall be provided with a white block panel for providing medication dosage instruction. The panel shall accept ink or pencil easily and clearly without smearing.
The envelope shall be free of tears, splits, slits, holes, wrinkles, sharp creases, blisters, or chafed spots. The envelope shall be furnished free of grease, oil, dirt, or other contamination.
