COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAG, MOTION SICKNESS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification PPP-B-23.
This description covers two types of bags* Type I- polyethylene film and type II- bleached kraft paper lined with polyethylene.
Salient characteristics:
The polyethylene used in type I bags shall be opaque, 6-1/8 inches wide, 12 inches long, with a 3 inch gusset + 1/2 inch, and shall be folded and inserted in a paper or polyethylene envelope printed with a legend, as follows:
MOTION SICKNESS BAGS
For use during moments of stomach upset. If an upset stomach
is anticipated, remove bag from this container and keep ready
for use. Do not be embarrassed by this precaution, as even
veteran travelers are subject to occasional motion sickness.
Type II bags shall be of the self-opening type, 4-3/4 inches wide, 11 inches long, with a 3-1/8-inch gusset + 1/2 inch. The paper bag and polyethylene liner shall be securely anchored at the top with waterproof adhesive.
Type I and II bags shall be provided with a method of closure designated to prevent leakage.

The issue of each TAPPI test method in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The bag shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
Note. Purchasers should specify whether type I or type II bags are required.
