BAG, PLASTIC (CUSHIONED)

Commercial Item Description

This commercial item description covers cushioned plastic bags intended for use as internal packaging to protect the contents against shock, vibration, and abrasion.

Salient characteristics:

Bags shall be constructed of material in accordance with Commercial Item Description A-A-549, regular or antistatic as specified.

The inside dimensions of the bags shall be as specified + 1/4 inch.

All seams shall be continuously sealed.

When specified the bag shall have a top flap which shall be sealed by a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The adhesive shall be protected with a carrier sheet capable of being removed without exhibiting adhesive delamination. The adhesive shall be applied across the full width of the flap or overlap area.

Workmanship. The workmanship shall be such that the bags have no tears, cuts, or holes which may affect bag usage.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The bag shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.

Note: Purchasers should specify dimensions, regular or antistatic, material and whether flap closure is required.
