2. QUALITY ASSURANCE:
A) Responsibility for Inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the Commercial Item description where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
B) Sampling. Bags and shipping containers shall be sampled in accordance with MIL-STD-105.
C) Examination of Bags for Construction, Capacity, and Workmanship. The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The sample unit shall be 1 bag. The inspection level shall be S-2 the AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective.
D) Testing of the bags for Load Capacity. The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The inspection level shall be S-1, the AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective. The temperature shall be 17 -32o C and the relative humidity shall be 15-85% in the area where the bags are tested while the tests are being performed.
1. Load the bag by gently placing 14 + 0.5 kilograms of paper products such as paperbacked books inside the bag. By means of a clamp attached to the handles, suspend the loaded bag so that the bottom is not less than 6 inches above a horizontal surface. After not less than 60 minutes, take the bag down, unload it and examine it carefully. Any tear or break in the handle or in the area where the handle is attached to the bag constitutes failure of this test. Any tear or break in other parts of the bag exceeding 1 inch in length constitutes failure of this test. Any seam separation exceeding 1 inch in length constitutes failure of this test.
E) Examination of Packaging, Packing, Marking and Palletization. The lot size shall be expressed in units of issue of bags. The sample unit shall be one fully prepared shipping container for Packaging, Packing, and Marking, and one fully prepared pallet for palletization. The inspection level shall be S-2, the AQL shall be 4.0 percent defective.
