COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAG, PLASTIC (SANDWICH)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item
description in preference to Federal Specification PPP-B-28 which is canceled.
This description covers sandwich bags used for protection of sandwiches and various foods.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Physical Properties. Bags furnished under the description shall be made from transparent, flexible, plastic film which has a Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) of not more than 31 g / m2 * d e 100 + 5oF & 90 + 5 percent RH when tested in accordance with ASTM E 96 or ASTM F 1249. Bags shall pass the Strength test (see paragraph 2C).
B. Construction. Closure shall be of the manufacturer’s normal commercial flap, fold, or tuck type. Bags shall have a face width of 6-1/2 + 1/4 inches and a height of 5-1/2 + 1/4 inches, exclusive of gussets, tucks, folds, or flaps. A bottom gusset is optional.
C. Workmanship. The bags shall be free of any imperfections or foreign matter that may affect their appearance or serviceability. Bags surfaces shall not adhere to each other during normal storage conditions.
