2. QUALITY ASSURANCE:
A) Responsibility for Inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the Commercial Item Description where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
B) Sampling. Bags, shipping containers, and pallets shall be sampled in accordance with MIL-STD-105. If the bags are made directly from plastic resin in a continuous process, a sample of 10 bags shall be taken to test the physical characteristics specified in Table I.
C) Examination of the end item for construction and workmanship.
The lot size shall be expressed in units of bags. The sample unit shall be 1 bag. The Inspection Level shall be S-2, the AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective:
D) Heat-Sealed Seam Test. The sample unit shall be 1 bag. The
Inspection Level shall be S-1, the AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective. The test shall be performed as specified by Method 2024 of FED-STD-101. The total weight applied to the specimen shall be 260 & 10 grams. One specimen shall be tested from each side seam of each sample unit. No specimens shall be taken within 3 inches of the gusset. Any specimen that shows partial or complete delamination or rupture after hanging for 5 + 1 minutes constitutes a defect.
E) Examination of packaging, packing, marking, and palletization.
The lot size for packaging, packing, and marking shall be expressed in units of issue of bags; for palletization the lot size shall be expressed in pallets. The sample unit shall be one fully prepared shipping container for packaging, packing, and marking; for palletization the sample unit shall be one fully prepared pallet. For all examinations the Inspection Level shall be S-2 and the AQL shall be 4.0 percent defective.
