ENVELOPE, PACKING LIST (SELF ADHESIVE, PLASTIC)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification PPP-E-540, Classes I, II, III, and IV, Style 4.
This description covers water-resistant, self adhesive, plastic envelopes, suitable for the protection of packing lists and shipping documents.
Classification. Envelopes shall be of the following styles and sizes as specified (see Section 6):
Style A – Legend: PACKING LIST ENCLOSED
Style B – Legend: MATERIAL RELEASE/ RECEIPT DOCUMENTS
Style C – Legend: MATERIAL RELEASE/ RECEIPT DOCUMENTS ENCLOSED
Style D – Legend: NOTICE, THIS ENVELOPE CONTAINS IMPORTANT PAPERS. DO NOT DESTROY.
Style E – Legend: Without a legend.
Size 1 – 3 x 4-3/4 inches
Size 2 – 3-11/16 x 7-1/2 inches
Size 3 – 4-3/4 x 7 inches
Size 4 – 5 x 8-1/2 inches
Size 5 – 8 x 9-1/2 inches
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction. Envelopes furnished under this description shall be fabricated from a plastic film which meets the requirements of Table I for Impact Resistance and Water Vapor Transmission Rate. The back of each envelope shall have not less than 75 percent of its area covered with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The adhesive shall be protected by a liner which is easily removable without causing the adhesive to separate from the back of the envelope. The adhesive shall meet the requirements of Table I for Peel Adhesion. The envelopes shall be constructed in such a manner as to protect the contents from water
