COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAG, WASTE RECEPTACLE (PAPER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification
UU-B-43, type I
This description covers square waxed paper bags suitable for use in sanitary waste receptacles, 3-gallon size, for the disposal of garbage, refuse, and infectious waste.
Salient characteristics.
The paper used in the fabrication of the bag shall be unbleached wood fibers. The unwaxed paper shall be sized to the extent that the one drop of water (0.1 cubic centimeter) will not be completely absorbed into the paper when tested as follows: After conditioning to equilibrium at room temperature, the specimen shall be placed on a flat dry and clean surface. A drop of water (approximately 0.1 cubic centimeter) shall be dropped on the specimen from a height of not more than 3 inches above the specimen. A watch glass shall be placed over the paper. After 20 minute the area of the paper contacted by the drop shall show partial retention of the drop as evidenced by reflectivity.
The wax used shall have a melting point of not less than 120oF nor more than 134oF. The physical characteristics of the bag shall conform to the following:
